CHALLENGE

Inefficient workflow and time-consuming data analysis

Fyna Foods, one of the nation’s oldest confectionery manufacturers, faced challenges as it expanded. With outdated, siloed technology, employees struggled to access and analyze data efficiently. Daniel Janka, Business Operations Manager says the old systems were “clunky,” requiring manual data extractions that diverted time from valuable insights.

To streamline operations and stay competitive against larger rivals, Fyna Foods sought modern solutions that would enhance data accessibility, simplify processes and maintain compliance with cybersecurity standards.

APPROACH

Visualizing data on a single source of truth

Fyna Foods partnered with Notitia and adopted Qlik Cloud® Analytics for its data transformation, supported by Notitia’s “CIO-as-a-managed-service” solution to ensure quality and delivery. Implementing a “product, people and process” practice, Fyna Foods empowered employees with Qlik, integrating data across departments from leadership to factory staff.

Qlik’s unified view enhances collaboration, offering remote access and transparency across teams. Visualization features support Fyna Foods’ lean production by enabling quick insights and reducing errors, with data displayed on screens for easy interpretation.

RESULTS

Accurate analysis for better forecast and projections to save time and money

Fyna Foods is leveraging data to address a cocoa shortage that has spiked prices by 500% in six months. With cocoa comprising AUD $10 million of its business, maintaining a steady supply is crucial. The Qlik platform enables faster, data-driven decisions for managing supply contracts and production, preventing shortages.

A new dashboard lets teams track cash flow, compare cocoa usage with forecasts, and identify cost variances, all in a day rather than a week. Going forward, Fyna Foods aims to integrate AI to streamline processes and reduce reliance on data literacy across its workforce.
